Shirley J Shartzer's Obituary
Shirley J. Shartzer, 87, of Ottawa, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2026. She was born on May 20, 1939, to the late Owen S. and Kathryn (Carpenter) Klinger. On November 26, 1954, she married Charles "Bill" Shartzer who preceded her in death in 2010. Shirley enjoyed being a beautician and worked in Ohio and Wyoming. She was a past member of the United Church of Christ, Columbus Grove. She enjoyed making homemade ice cream with Spanish peanuts, fish sandwiches at Henry's in Ottawa, margaritas and wine coolers. Shirley also enjoyed a good game of bingo, cards, and puzzles. She was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying camping, riding horses in the mountains, and traveling. She was always up for a good time with the girls for lunch and going to the Rex Pavilion, Ottawa, for an outdoor concert. She was a huge fan of Elvis and classic country music. She especially loved getting together with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caring staff at Bridge Home Health & Hospice, Findlay, Ohio.
She is also survived by her daughters, Tamara (Steve Kuhlman) Ortega and Suzanne (Bill) Claye; grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Ortega, Kyle (Kim) Ortega, Ashley Froman, Brandon (Brianna) Smith, Kelly (Derek) Jordan and BJ Shartzer and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Shartzer; and her siblings, James E. Klinger and Karen Dackin.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Hartman-Rousculp Community Funeral Home, 10879 State Route 12, Columbus Grove with visitation two hours prior (10:00 am - 12:00 pm).
