When I think of Shirley, I think of warmth, loyalty, and a wonderful spirit that lifted everyone around her. She was the kind of person who made the world feel a little friendlier. I know firsthand that once you were Shirley’s friend, you were her friend for life. Her loyalty and love had no expiration date, and I am so grateful to have experienced that bond.
Shirley truly knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. She loved going out for lunch, and some of my favorite moments were heading over to Henry's here in Ottawa with her so she could get her favorite fish sandwich. But it wasn't just about the food; it was about the connection. She loved sitting outside on warm nights, and we would spend time just talking and laughing.
Those evenings on the front porch are memories I will treasure forever. Under the warm night sky, Shirley would open up her heart. She loved talking about her family, who meant absolutely everything to her. I loved listening to her share fond memories of her time in Wyoming, painting pictures with her words of her adventures there.
She also knew how to have a good time. Whether she was sitting around a table playing cards and laughing with her girlfriends, or happily hunting for deals while TV shopping, Shirley brought a sense of fun and vibrancy to every single day.
I am going to deeply miss those warm night chats, her stories, and her infectious laugh. But more than anything, I will miss her beautiful soul. Shirley, thank you for your fierce friendship, your wonderful spirit, and the love you left behind in my heart. You will never be forgotten."
