Bill, Jim & Will,Please accept my condolences for the loss of your brother, uncle, friend and mentor. For those of us outside your family, John was and will remain one of the rare and unique characters who leave a lasting impression. To tell you of his impact on me, my own words fall short so I will borrow his......"There are SUPERPOSED men and there are CITORI men......KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!!"John was decidedly a Superposed man.
Thinking of you Will..I'm sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother Bill. Just know that you and Kathy are in my prayers.
John was a good friend to us all. He will be missed. May God watch over you and your family. Mom Bobbie expresses the same.
It had to be over 25 years ago when this man knocked at our door. My sister and I got to the door and he looked at us with this stern stare and said "Go tell your parents the boogeyman is here." I think my parents knew who it was as soon as we told them the comment. Once they came upstairs and greeted him, he looked at my sister and I and said "Now go play on the road." As crazy as it sounds, that was the beginning to an awesome friendship. This man was John, and we are so sad to hear of his passing! I told my dad (Mark Buehrer) John could act like he didn't like kids, but I knew he loved us! I absolutely loved when he and Dick Brown would stop for visits, and loved listening to John's stories! I always told him he should be a history teacher! We both knew he wouldn't last long as one though. He would have to do things on his terms...and he would probably say something to get himself in trouble. Lol Although I haven't seen him in a long while, he was one of those people I thought would always be around. Our hearts are aching and we are so very sad to know he is gone. We will really miss not seeing him! Your family has our deepest sympathy!!Sincerely, Matt, Ali, Camden & Paxton Verhoff
I will miss John's words of wisdom and great sense of humor. He is someone I'll never forget and will miss.
I have known John my entire life. He was a great man and a mentor. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to all the family.
I've known John since I was a child, will miss his insight and humor. I raise my glass and salute his memory...
What a blessing it was to call John our friend. Our paths first crossed in the 1970s when Dad owned Club 65. John was such an interesting person and always kept you on your toes. We are sure he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him!Carl & Ruth VorstDwayne & Annie Ketcham
