Cairo, Ohio Willis Dee Wood, 84, died Sunday, September 2, 2018, at his home in Cairo, Ohio. He was born May 19, 1934, in Cairo to Lester R. and Lusina (Hefner) Wood, both preceded him in death. On March 10, 1956, he married Jane L. Hunt, she survives in Cairo. They were married 62 years. Willis was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1952. He was a US Marine Corps veteran, where he was the chief cook. Willis had worked for General Dynamics and retired after 14 years. He enjoyed cooking and was a skilled carpenter, who loved making wood toys. He had attended Cairo United Methodist Church. Willis is survived by three sons, Robert (Denise) Wood of Lima, Douglas S. Wood of Cairo and Cody (Loretta) Wood of Lima; one daughter, Monica L (David Luma) Wood of Cairo; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Junior Wood and Navarro J. Wood both of Cairo, and one sister, Nona (Gary) Collins of Cairo. He was preceded in death by his twin, Wilbur Wood; brothers, Dickie Wood and Monte Snyder and granddaughter, Heather Ann Marie Wood. Services will begin at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Rich Rakay, will officiate with burial to follow at Cairo Eastside Cemetery, where Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1275, Lima. Friends may call Wednesday, September 5, 2018, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00pm at Hartman Sons Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cairo Monroe Township Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department or the Cairo United Methodist Church.
