William R "Bill" Mayberry's Obituary
William R. "Bill" Mayberry, 77, of Columbus Grove, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Dublin Methodist Hospital, Dublin. He was born on February 15, 1948, in Lima, to the late James and Catharine (Mullet) Mayberry. He retired after 36 years with Philips Display, Ottawa. He proudly served his country in the US Army 1st Calvary Division during the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Medal. He was a lifelong member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Columbus Grove. Bill always liked to spend his free time at his cabin in Indian River, MI. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and collecting and playing vinyl records, especially the Eagles and Pink Floyd. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley (Bockrath) Mayberry; children, Amy (Jay) Banal, Matthew (Mary Sims) Vogt, Sara (Matt) Downs, and Catharine (Dereck) VandeWalle; 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Carol and Charlene Mayberry; grandson, Jordan Vogt.
