Columbus Grove, Ohio William H. "Bill" Schroeder, age 74, died Sunday, October 2, 2016, at The Meadows of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ohio. He was born on January 12, 1942, in Lima, Ohio, to Clarence F. and Mary Margaret (Kenney) Schroeder. Both parents preceded him in death. On November 28, 1964, he married Sonja Sue Harrod, who survives in Columbus Grove. Survivors include three sons: William Schroeder Jr. of Lakeland, Florida, Brian (Rachel) Schroeder and Bruce (Barb) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Ohio; two sisters: Jean Sonye Stahl of Woodridge, Illinois and Deb (Jeff) Centers of Continental, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Breanne (Clay) Windau, Drew, Grant, and Dane Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Ohio, Shannon Osting of Columbus Grove, Ohio, Lindsey Troyer of Petersburg, Michigan, and Bryan (Mindy) Troyer of Columbus Grove, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren with the fifth one on the way. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Alice Elias. Mr. Schroeder had retired from General Dynamics, Lima, Ohio, prior to which he had worked at former B.L.H. Clark Equipment, Lima, Ohio. He enjoyed classic cars, attending auctions, and playing cards with his family and friends. Bill was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, and was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1960. He had also served on the Columbus Grove Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Father Tom Extejt will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Church Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. A Scripture service will be held at the close of visitation on Wednesday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony School, Columbus Grove or Columbus Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
