William Stanley Donaldson, 80, of Hilton Head Island, SC and formally of Columbus Grove, OH died Thursday September 17, 2015 at his home after a brief illness. Mr. Donaldson was born March 30, 1935 in Columbus Grove, OH the son of Stanley and Naomi (McCullough) Donaldson who preceded him in death. On December 26th, 1956 he married Naomi R. Watkins who survives. Mr. Donaldson worked at the Metropolitan Bank of Lima for many years and owned Donaldson Furniture in Columbus Grove. He retired from the State of Ohio Department of Transportation. William attended Bowling Green State University and Bluffton College. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a 50 year member of the Rufus Putnam Masonic Lodge No. 0364 of Columbus Grove, OH. He was a member of the Columbus Grove Christian Church and Providence Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head Island, SC. William is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Donaldson of Columbus, OH and a son, Steven Donaldson of Columbus Grove, OH; grandchildren Kyle Donaldson of Columbus Grove, Carrie Donaldson of Columbus Grove, Cassie (Nick) Sumney of Lima, OH , and Kimberly (Timothy) Billingsley of Columbus, IN; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters Monie Lou (Robert) Wert of Windham, OH and Nancy (William) Hofferbert of Columbus Grove, OH; and sisters in-law Beverly (John) Reeder of Findlay, Dorothy Fuerst of Columbus Grove and Shirley Gray of Findlay; and brother in-law Michael (Janet) Watkins of Columbus Grove. William was preceded in death by sister and brother in-law Dorna (Doyle) Wood; brothers-in-law Harry Watkins, Wilford Fuerst, and Gene Gray; nephews James Wert, Kevin Fuerst and Robert Wood. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 23 at the Columbus Grove Christian Church. Pastor Geoff Eubank will officate. Burial will follow the service at Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove, OH. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Columbus Grove Christian Church. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com
