Virginia "Ginger" Edwards Obituary
COLUMBUS GROVE Virginia L. "Ginger" Edwards, 72, died at 12:35 p.m. July 1, 2012, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. She was born Oct. 6, 1939, in Columbus Grove to William P. and Anna B. Shinaberry Hitchcock, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 31, 1958, she married Keith R. Edwards, who survives. Mrs. Edwards was a 1957 graduate of Columbus Grove High School. She worked for the Witt-Gor Co. in Columbus Grove. She then worked at Columbus Grove schools as a study hall monitor and bus driver. She was a volleyball referee and in 1999 inducted into the Ohio Referee Hall of Fame. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church, Columbus Grove. Survivors include two daughters, Kelly (Jeffrey) Davis, of Zionsville, Ind., and Jennifer (Ronald) Hovest, of Kalida; a brother, Paul (Dolly) Hitchcock, of Columbus Grove; three sisters, Alice Cesarini, of Southport, Conn., Ruth (Paul Richard) Moser, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Jean (Richard) Thomas, of Wilmington, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Rosie Hitchcock, of Columbus Grove; and five grandchildren, Brent and Drew Hovest, and Adam, Kelsey and Ryan Davis. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Davis; and a brother, Charles William Hitchcock. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John United Methodist Church in Columbus Grove. Pastor Gary Ginter will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery in Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John United Methodist Church in Columbus Grove.
