Columbus Grove, Ohio Virgil L. Lane, age 68, died at 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born on July 24, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Carl E. and Agnes M. "Jo" (Hermiller) Lane. They both preceded him in death. On June 13, 1970, he married Patricia "Pat" Craig, and she survives in Columbus Grove. Mr. Lane was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1964. After which, he enlisted in the U. S. Army, serving in the 101st Airborne during Vietnam. He was a life member of Columbus Grove VFW, Post 9648, and a member of the Bowers Slusser American Legion, Post #516, both of Columbus Grove. He was a member of St. Anthony Church, Columbus Grove. Virgil had worked and retired from the General Motors Central Foundry, Defiance. He was a avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Virgil was a hard working man and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include one son: David ( fiancé, Rachel Radabaugh) Lane, Columbus Grove; one daughter: Tricia (Scott) Winkle, Kalida; seven grandchildren: Morgan, Katie, Madi, Layne, Kaitlyn and Rachel's children, Tyler and Haley; and one sister: Mary Ann (Craig) Cornelius, Ottawa. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, with Father Tom Extejt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, with Military rites. Friends may call on Friday from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00p.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's School Endowment Fund, 520 W. Sycamore, Columbus Grove, Ohio 45830. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com.
