Terry Callahan's Obituary
Terry Callahan Obituary
Terry Callahan, a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and expert at friendly jabs, passed away on September 4, 2024 at the age of 75. He leaves behind his wonderful wife, Barbie, his amazing daughter, Jena Gibbons, and his even more amazing grandson, Knox—at least according to him. He was also a pretty great father-in-law to Bryan Gibbons and a favorite cousin and friend to Tom Gettman.
Terry proudly wore the uniform of the National Guard, serving his country with dedication. For 30 years, he was a fixture on the V-6 assembly line at Ford Motor Company, mastering the craft and becoming the go-to guy for anything with a nut or bolt. On the softball field, he was known for his coaching wisdom, whether you were ready for it or not.
A true sports enthusiast, Terry could often be found cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio State Buckeye football, and Cincinnati Reds baseball. He also loved spending time on the golf course, particularly at Bluffton Golf Club, where he was a proud participant in the Tuesday night Ford League. If you ever needed him, that’s probably where you’d find him—either on the course or at the 19th hole, talking about that one shot that almost made it.
For 41 years, Terry owned Miller's Lunch, where he served up meals in the earlier years, beers in the later years and even heartier laughs. His hobo stew at the annual BBO was the stuff of legends—or maybe just really good gossip. He had a special talent for showing love by calling you "stupid," a term of endearment that meant you were definitely in his circle.
In his later years, he enjoyed taking nosy morning drives around town with his grand pup, Gizmo, making sure everything was in order. Gizmo was his pride and joy, but Frankie—affectionately known as "the pain in the @$$"—was just part of the deal.
Terry will be remembered for his quick wit, his love for his family and friends, and his ability to make everyone around him laugh. For the men aka “stupid” and the ladies aka "babe", he might not have ever said it outright, those were his way of saying “I love you.” He’ll be sorely missed by all who knew him, but his memory will keep us laughing for years to come. Cheers with an ice cold Budweiser Select!
Calling hours will be held at Hartman & Sons funeral home in Columbus Grove on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 1-6pm. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at Miller's Lunch.
