Shirley Thomas Obituary
Elida, Ohio Shirley V. Thomas, 91, died at 2:43 a.m., on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima. Ohio. She was born on July 26, 1923, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to the late Percy and Lillian (Greene) Edwards. On September 11, 1948, she married Noble W. Thomas, who preceded her in death on March 9, 2010. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church, the Women's Society, and the Church Choir. She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Providence, RI and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, also of Providence, RI. Shirley was an artist, painting on china. She was a wonderful vocalist and singer, not only in the Church choir, but she was also a part of the Gomer Gymanfa Ganu. Survivors include one son: William "Bill" Thomas of Elida; two daughters: Susan (John) Sarber of Galena and Linda (Mike) Fay of Cairo; six grandchildren: Jeff (Andrea) Fay, Mallory Fay, James (Megan) Fay, Peter (Angela) Thomas, Evan (Brelyn) Thomas and Mark Thomas; and six great grandchildren: Alyson, Carter and Lila Fay, Marissa and Nolan Thomas, and Addison Collins. Shirley was preceded in death by her sister: Dorothy B. (Vernon) Rasor. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Cairo United Methodist Church, with Pastor Rich Rakay officiating. Burial will follow in Cairo Eastside Cemetery, Cairo, Ohio. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to Cairo United Methodist Church, Cairo, Ohio.
