Sherry Marie Halker, 49, of Columbus Grove left us to be with God unexpectedly on Thursday, May 2, 2013. She was loved by everyone who met her. Sherry, with her kind heart and constant beautiful smile will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She was born July 22, 1963 to Eugene and Sharon (Unverferth) Ricker, who survive in Columbus Grove. On July 28, 1984, she married the love of her life, Rick Halker, who survives in Columbus Grove. Sherry is also survived by four amazing daughters and two sons in law. They include Amber (Jeff) Linstedt of Findlay, Ashley (Arin) Coy of Columbus, and Brittany and Breanne Halker of Columbus Grove. Sherry is also survived by three brothers, Terry Ricker of Ottawa, Todd (Sue) Ricker and Chad (Michelle) Ricker both of Columbus Grove; and her sister Nikki (Ryan) Benroth of Columbus Grove. She is survived by her mother in-law, Ida Mae "Daisy" Halker. Sherry was blessed with six brothers in-law, James (Diane) Halker of Lima, Denny (Janelda) Halker of Leipsic, Gary (Lisa) Halker of Bursville, N.C., Mike (Pam) Halker of Columbus Grove, Greg (Shirley) Halker of Ostrander and Mark (Cindy) Halker of Columbus Grove. She was also blessed with two sisters in-law, Linda (Jeff) Glorioso of Lima, and Pam (Ron) Keysor of Spencerville. She was greatly loved and will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Sherry is preceded in death by her father in-law, James J. Halker.
Sherry worked as a Registered Oncology nurse at St. Rita's Medical Center where her love and compassion touched everyone. She also worked at the Women's Wellness Center and Radiation Oncology Center. She treated every patient as if they were her own family.
Sherry loved watching her children grow up and participating in school activities. She loved going to all of the Columbus Grove sporting events, OSU football and basketball games and even rooted for the Cleveland Browns and Indians. She was a born again Christian who devoted her life to Christ. Overall, she just loved life!
Service of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 am Tuesday at the Church of The Good Shepherd, Columbus Grove, with Pastor Michael Whitman officiating. Burial will be in Osborne Cemetery, Columbus Grove, Ohio.
Visitation will be held at the Church of The Good Shepherd on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 pm and Monday 2:00-8:00pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sherry Halker Children's College Fund in care of the Union Bank Company.
