Samuel N. Schroeder's Obituary
Samuel N. Schroeder, 94, of Columbus Grove, died on Friday, May 9, 2025, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, OH. He was born on May 31, 1930, at home in Miller City, OH to the late Samuel F. and Romana (Schmenk) Schroeder. On August 22, 1956, he married Anne C. Fenbert, who preceded him in death in March 2024.
He is survived by his children; Rose (Jeff) Ellerbrock of Glandorf, Cindy Salisbury (Brian Hornacek) of Findlay, Kay (Tom) Hunt of Lucas, Brenda Schroeder (Chad Lazette) of Maumee, Dean Schroeder (Carol Scott) of Columbus Grove and Jim (Lisa) Schroeder of Columbus Grove; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren with another on the way. Sam was also preceded in death by all 8 siblings, as well as their spouses: Anna Mae Schroeder (infant), David (Elaine) Schroeder, Omer "Bud" (Kathy) Schroeder, Mary (William) Koch, Anita (Virgil) Verhoff, Sister Margery Schroeder, Irvin (Sharon) Schroeder and Delmar "Bill" (Margaret) Schroeder.
He served in the US Army from 1955-1957 as a member of the Military Police, then continued his service with the Army Reserve in Columbus, OH for an additional 8 years. He worked at Ford Motor Co., Lima, OH from 1960-1962, before he dedicated his life to full-time farming and raising livestock. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Columbus Grove and was a member of the K of C and American Legion Post 516. Throughout the years he always made time for his "morning coffee" with his circle of friends to catch up on local events (gossip).
Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 10am, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, OH with Fr. David Ritchie officiating. Visitation is on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 4-8pm with Rosary Service at 8pm at Hartman-Rousculp Community Funeral Home, 10879 SR OH-12, Columbus Grove. Burial to be at the convenience of the family with military honors at St. Anthony Cemetery. Preferred memorials can be made to St. Anthony Parish and/or school.
