Columbus Grove Rosena A. Verhoff, 87, died at 4:55 a.m. Aug. 26, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born March 8, 1924, in Kalida to Anna Saum and John Siefker, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 10, 1947, she married Stephen A. Verhoff, who died June 21, 2009. Mrs. Verhoff had been a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, and most recently of St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lima. She had worked alongside her husband on their dairy farm, caring for and feeding the livestock, especially her chickens. Rosena enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and growing flowers, but, most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Stephen H. (Paula) Verhoff, of Monclova; a daughter, Patty Verhoff, of Columbus Grove; two brothers, LaVerne (LaDonna) Siefker, of Columbus Grove, and Harry (Rose Marie) Siefker, of Kalida; and two grandchildren, Stephen J. Verhoff, of Monclova, and Anthony P. (Jessica) Verhoff, of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Richard and Wilbert Siefker; and a sister, Cyrilda Grote. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, The Rev. Jim Szobonya will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice/Homecare.
