Ronald Doty's Obituary
Ronald Doty Obituary
Columbus Grove, Ohio On July 16, 2017, while those who loved him were by his side saying good-bye, in another place sounds of "Here comes Roughhouse" could be heard. Ronald Doty and his twin brother Don, where born April 3, 1941, in the living room on Plum Street, Columbus Grove, to Jim and Lois (Barkimer) Doty. They both preceded him in death. He was a loyal and loving son to his mother throughout her life. Ron always felt he had a great childhood. The Village of Columbus Grove was his playground. He said there wasn't a tree he didn't climb. Ron graduated from Columbus Grove High School, class of 1959. At age 18, he began working at Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant and retired after 35 years of employment. In 1963, he married Barbara Adams, and they spent nearly 54 years as husband and wife. They raised two children: Cheryl Lynne Doty (DeAnne Krouse) and Chris Doty, both of Columbus. In 2002, he became a grandfather and that gave him bragging rights about having the best grandson ever, Alex Doty of Columbus. Ron loved living in Columbus Grove; a place where you wave to everyone you pass on the street and where neighbors help neighbors. He liked walking and bicycling, playing cards with friends, traveling, reading on his deck, woodworking and collecting Columbus Grove postcards and memorabilia. Ron was very patriotic and showed his love of country by proudly flying the stars and stripes. He also loved his Buckeyes and Bulldogs. But his favorite times were those spent with family, his children, grandson, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, friends and his Barbie. Ron is survived by his siblings: Pat (Tom) Smith of Pickerington, Doris (Bill) Snoke, Jim (Carol) Doty both of Columbus Grove, his twin brother Don (Jane) Doty of Lima, Jerry Doty of Columbus and JoLynn Yates of Columbus Grove; his sisters in-law: Connie Adams of Albuquerque, NM and Mary K. Adams of Bakersfield, CA and his brother in-law: Jim (Vi) Adams of Bakersfield, CA. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Larry Doty and sister in-law Judith L. Doty. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm (noon)- 4:00pm, Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 4:00pm with Rev. Daniel J. Doty officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Grove Band Boosters or Putnam County Habitat for Humanity.
