COLUMBUS GROVE — Robert F. “Bob” Kohls, 79, died Nov. 23, 2012, at the Meadows of Leipsic. He was born Dec. 9, 1932, to Al G. and Odelia Konst Kohls. On July 15, 1959, he married Mary Jean Kissell, who survives at Meadows of Leipsic. Mr. Kohls attended Columbus Grove Schools, graduating in 1951, after which he served in the U.S. Army. Upon discharge from the service, he attended and graduated from the International Business College, Fort Wayne, Ind. He joined his family in the ownership and management of Kohls Markets in Ottawa and Columbus Grove, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus Grove and Knights of Columbus Council 9788. He enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida and woodworking. Among his many family woodworking projects was to make a unique cradle for each of his six granddaughters. Survivors also include three sons, Philip R. (Patty) Kohls, of St. Paul, Minn., Timothy L. (Colleen) Kohls, of Arlington, Texas, and Michael L. (Robyn) Kohls, of Columbus Grove; a daughter, Nancy Ann (Michael) Tibbetts, of Las Vegas; and six granddaughters, Sarah, Abby, Katie, Samantha, Rachel and Megan Kohls. He was preceded in death by two sons, Martin and Nicholas Kohls. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus Grove. The Rev. Tom Exjtej will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home in Columbus Grove, where Deacon James Dunn will present a Scripture service at 8 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony School Endowment Fund, 512 W. Sycamore St., Columbus Grove, Ohio 45830. Condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com.
