Gomer, Ohio Robert E. "Bob" Buettner, age 87, died at 4:13 am, Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born on May 29, 1930, in Delphos to Edward H. and Opal (Dunlap) Buettner. They both preceded him in death. On September 3, 1950 he married Eloise M. Adams. She preceded him in death August 26, 2012. He married Nancy Monfort Sidey on June 11, 2016, and she survives. Bob is survived by a son, Dennis (Cynthia) Buettner of Marysville; two daughters, Janice (Jeffrey) Pheneger of Murfreesboro, TN, and Mary (Jeff) Weis of Gomer; a step-daughter, Patricia (Spencer) Clum of Spencerville; a step-son, William (Bobbie) Sidey of Spencerville; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Wanda (Kenneth Smith) Heffner of Rockport, and his brother, Darrell (Jill Renner) Buettner of Lima. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Sue Adam and Lois Barth. Bob was a graduate of Gomer High School, class of 1948. He retired from the former Scot Lad Foods, Lima. He was a member of Gomer Congregational Church. Bob was the advisor for the Gomer Easy Riders 4-H club. Bob loved horses his whole life, farming with them, riding them and training them. He enjoyed fishing and bowling, and telling stories to friends and family. Services will begin at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Gomer Congregational Church. Pastors Jim Wilder and Wanda Werking will co-officate, with burial to follow at Carmen Cemetery, Gomer. Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, November 10, 2017 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Gomer Congregational Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Gomer Congregational Church Memorial Fund or Donor's Choice. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com.
