New Smyrna Beach, Florida Richard "Dick" Robert Cunningham, formerly of Lima, age 68, died at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Florida Hospital New Smyrna, New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He was born May 1, 1949, Lima to Orville A. and Erma Jean (Jacques) Cunningham. They both preceded him in death. On May 30, 1970, he married Linda K. Hammond, who survives in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Dick is survived by two sons, Richard Robert (Jennifer) Cunningham, II, and Johnathon Lee (Mariah) Cunningham; two daughters, Tina Marie (Cunningham) Payne and Lisa Ann Cunningham; eight grandchildren; two great granddaughters; four brothers, Charles (Willene) Cunningham, John (Luana) Cunningham, Lester (Thelma) Cunningham and Terry (Steve) Cunningham; and four sisters, Nancy Mathison, Barbara (Daryl) Clark, Annie Smith and Sarah (Gary) Wells. Preceded in death by two sisters, Florence (David) Forest and Patsy Stevens. Dick was a graduate of Bath High School, class of 1970. After graduation he served in the U. S. Army, during Vietnam. He worked for and retired from the Philips Co., formerly in Ottawa, Ohio. Dick enjoyed working on cars, camping, boating, traveling and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church. Dick was the rock of his family! He loved spending time with his entire family and helped many of his family members and friends throughout his lifetime. Services will begin at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Charlotte Hefner will officiate with burial to follow in Center Cemetery, Leipsic, Ohio, where military rites will be conducted. Friends may call Tuesday, March 27, 2018, from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to Nationwide Children's hospital, Oncology Research Unit. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com.
