Richard Koch Obituary
Richard F. Koch, 89, died at 6:30 a.m. March 1, 2013, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. He was born Oct. 14, 1923, in Ottawa to Fredrick and Veronica Brinkman Koch, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 22, 1952, he married Doris M. Schroeder, who died June 1, 2009. Mr. Koch was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 9788 and American Legion Post 516, both in Columbus Grove. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 114th Infantry in the European Theater. He was a farmer and had retired from Louisiana Pacific, Ottawa, after 43 years. Survivors include four sons, Steve (Sharon) Koch and David (Marcia) Koch, both of Columbus Grove, Craig Koch, of Shelby Township, Mich., and Cliff (Candace) Koch, of Hilliard; two brothers, William (Rita) Koch, of Glandorf, and Joseph (Alice) Koch, of Ottawa; two sisters, Helen Nussbaum, of Ottawa, and Doris Horstman, of Fort Jennings; a sister-in-law, Julie Koch, of Columbus Grove; a brother-in-law, Bob (Marilyn) Hamburg, of Kalida; and 12 grandchildren, Emily (Scott) Haselman, Jason, Aaron, Andrew, Matthew, Tony, Jacob, Nathan, Trent, Tadd, Alyssa and Claire Koch. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Koch; four sisters, Marie (Norbert) Schroeder, Ruth (Lee) Schroeder, Clara (Paul) Nadler and Irene Hamburg; a sister-in-law, Mary Koch; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Nussbaum and Don Horstman. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Father Tom Extejt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from noon to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony School Endowment Fund.
