RICHARD NIERESCHER Obituary
COLUMBUS GROVE — Richard K. Nierescher, 84, died at 8:18 p.m. Oct. 25, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Mount Clemens, Mich., to John and Katrine Boltres Nierescher, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 8, 1951, he married Marjorie Cupp, who survives. Mr. Nierescher served two years, 1946-1948, in the U.S. Navy, after which he returned to Columbus Grove High School to finish his education, graduating in 1948. He had served with Admiral Richard Byrd during the Antarctica Expedition of 1947. He had worked for and retired from The U.S. Army Automotive Command, Warren, Mich. He had been a life member of the Columbus Grove American Legion Post 516. Survivors also include two sons, David (Karen) Nierescher, of Renton, Wash., and Kevin Nierescher, of Palm Bay, Fla.; a brother, Robert (Dee) Nierescher, of Grand Blanc, Mich.; a sister, Helen Hutchins, of Tiffin; three grandchildren, Justin and Emily Nierescher, of Lenox, Mich., and Jessica (Zach) Chandler, of Renton, Wash.; and a great-granddaughter, Layla Lee Chandler. He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Graveside services with military rites will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell Cemetery, Mayberry Road, Columbus Grove.
