Richard "Dick" Bryan Obituary
Columbus Grove, Ohio Richard F. "Dick" Bryan, 89, died Friday, May 13, 2016, at his home near Columbus Grove. He was born November 27, 1926, the son of Harold and Violet (Burkhart) Bryan, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Ladonna E. Brown, February 2, 1952, and she survives in Columbus Grove. He was a graduate from Vaughnsville High School. Soon after graduation, World War II broke out, and he served in the United States Army as a Medic. Dick was a member of Ottawa VFW Post 9142 and American Legion Post 63, Ottawa. He worked for, and retired from the RCA Co., Findlay, Ohio. Dick was a person of many interests, which led to several endeavors. Examples included lapidary, making jewelry, gardening and leather work. He was a ham radio operator. His fascination with electronics even led to building robots. His interests were ever on going. He never stopped learning. Survivors include: two sons, Steve, San Jose, CA, and Ron, Columbus Grove, OH, and one daughter, Linda Johnson, Columbus Grove. Three grandchildren, Troy Johnson, Lima; Jodi (Terry) Turnwald, Ottoville; and Kristie (Dave) Neace, Columbus Grove. Eight great-grandchildren: Cole and Teagan Johnson; Maddie, Skylar, and Josh Turnwald; Hunter and Preston Reynolds; and Rilie Neace. Two sisters, Vera Marlene Bryan, Toledo, OH, and Colleen Jameson, Napoleon, OH, and a sister-in-law, Janet Bryan, Vaughnsville. Dick was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon A. Bryan Reynolds, brothers Robert Bryan and John "Herb" (Pat) Bryan, a sister, Nancy (Leeland "Mouse") Wierwille, and a brother-in-law, Gordon Jameson. Friends may call at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 p.m., where a VFW honor service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Geoff Eubank officiating. A combined military color guard of the VFW, American Legion, and Amvets, all of Ottawa, will conduct military rights following the service. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Columbus Grove.
