Phyllis "Flip" Mae Fuerst's Obituary
Phyllis Mae "Flip" Fuerst, 78, of Columbus Grove, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at her residence. She was born on May 11, 1947, to the late James and Elizabeth (Ellerbrock) Smith. On August 7, 1971, she married Richard G. "Dick" Fuerst who preceded her in death.
Phyllis was a social butterfly who enjoyed shopping and watching the Cleveland Guardians. She loved spending time with grandchildren and attending their sporting events, Go Dogs! Christmas season was her favorite time of the year, especially watching it snow.
She is survived by her six daughters, Renae (Eric) Olivo, Nora (Scott) Altenburg, Teresa (Steven) Briggs, Julie (Louis) Schroeder, Mary (Travis) Cartwright, and Melissa (Kacey) Hughes; grandchildren, Tony (Laura) Stringfield, Abby (Alex) Vasquez, Marcos Olivo, Libby (Dane) Calvelage, Sophia Olivo, Madison and Natalie Altenburg, Victoria Briggs, Breanna (Austin) Kincaid, Morgan Auchmuty, Miranda, Cayden and Ellias Briggs, Landen, Levi, Zaine and Wynn Schroeder, Nathan, Hannah, Emma and Ian Cartwright, Karlie and Myra Hughes; great-grandchildren, Isaac and Isaiah Stringfield, Mason and Malerie Vasquez, Emiliano, Ezekiel and Esias Olivo, Aiden, Lydia and Axl Kincaid, Soula Lowe and one on the way; brothers, Tom (Kathy) Smith, Charlie (Denise) Smith, Don Smith, and Kenny (Brenda) Smith; sisters, Sister Carol Ann Smith, Jane (Barry) Adams and Deb (Dan) Fout; brother-in-law, Lynn Roller; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Nancy J. Roller. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Putnam County Homecare & Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 512 West Sycamore Street, Columbus Grove, OH with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. Visitation is 2:00pm to 8:00pm, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, with Rosary to follow at Hartman-Rousculp Community Funeral Home 10879 SR OH-12 Columbus Grove.
