Columbus Grove, Ohio Nolan Morris Jones, Jr., 85, died at 11:32 am, Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Meadows of Ottawa. He was born January 3, 1933 in Kalida, Ohio, to Morris and Eloise (Finn) Jones. They both preceded him in death. On December 23, 1955, he married Nancy Lou Williams and she survives in Columbus Grove. Nolan is survived by one daughter, Lisa Jones of Seminole, FL; one brother, Jon Jones of Findlay; two sisters, JoAnn (Milo) George of Pandora and Jean Oliver of Lima; and one sister in-law, Joan Gilpin of Fort Wayne, IN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, David Jones; two brothers in-law, Orton Gilpin and Paul Oliver; and four sisters in-law, Marilyn Jones, Martha (Vernon) Nungester, Dorothy (Richard) Eubank and Sharon Rose Williams. Nolan was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1951, he attended Ohio Northern University and graduated from Northwestern School of Commerce, (now UNOH). He served in the US Army from 1956-1958. He retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant, in 1990, after which, he worked at Hartman Sons Funeral Home. He was a member of the Columbus Grove Christian Church, where he served as Deacon and worked at the Annual Pancake Supper for many years. He was a member of the Columbus Grove Lion's Club, the former Rufus Putnam Masonic Lodge, as a 32nd degree Mason and was the past treasurer of the Lord's Pantry. Nolan and his wife, Nancy, co-founded the Putnam County chapter of The Compassionate Friends, working at the state and national level to help bereaved parents and their families. He enjoyed watching sports, especially anything concerning the Columbus Grove Bulldogs, The Ohio State football and basketball, the Cleveland Browns, and the Cincinnati Reds . Services will begin at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Columbus Grove Christian Church. Pastor Geoff Eubank will officiate, with burial to follow in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove, where military rites will be conducted by the combine Color Guard of the Columbus Grove American Legion and VFW. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 pm, Monday, December 17, 2018, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please give memorials to the Columbus Grove Christian Church, the Columbus Grove Lions Club or Putnam County Hospice. The family would like to thank everyone at the Meadows of Ottawa for the wonderful care Nolan received while he was at their facility.
