Columbus Grove, Ohio Mary Ann Halker died at 1:40a.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 4, 1928, in Glandorf, Ohio, to Jerome and Clara (Heckman) Moening. They both preceded her in death. She had been married to Edward "Ed" J. Halker, who died on April 7, 2004. Mrs. Halker was a graduate of Glandorf High School and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Mary Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, as she treasured children and loved rocking babies. She simply was a wonderful mom, famous for her cookies and muffins. Mary Ann is survived by three sons: John (Janet) Halker, Columbus Grove, Joseph (Janene) Halker, Mt. Juliet, TN, and Pete (April) Halker, Columbus Grove; six daughters: Brenda (James) McElwain, Kalida, Margaret Sautter, Columbus Grove, Nancy (Richard) Balbaugh, Lima, Susan (Tim) Goedde, Lima, Beth (Dave) Schroeder, Columbus Grove and Melinda (Alan) Kaufman, Glandorf; 24 grandchildren: Wendy, Kelly, Stacey, Kari, Marci, Chris, Mike, Becky, Phil, Andy, Audrey, Mary, Lee, Tricia, Heather, Melissa, Adam, David, Cassie, Dana, Jami, Alexa, Hunter and Zeke; 39 great grandchildren with three on the way; and her in-laws: Mary Martha (Bud) Fischer, Esther Halker, Mary Halker and Laverne (Marge) Hermiller. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Jennifer R. Wood; one grandson: Craig McElwain and her siblings: Paul, Thomas, James, John Moening, Irene Cheney and Dorothy Moening. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, with Father Tom Extejt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Rosary Service will be held at 4:00 p.m.. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Anthony School Endowment Fund or Putnam County Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com.
