Mary Carpenter Obituary
Columbus Grove Mary L. Carpenter, 84, died at 5:03 p.m. July 16, 2012, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born May 14, 1928, in Lima to Jason Daniel and Lillian Mae Murray Waltz, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 4, 1951, she married John H. Carpenter, who died July 2, 2001. Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker and had worked at Lugibill Florist, Columbus Grove. She was a member of Pandora Church of Christ, Pandora. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting and doing craft work. She loved spending time with and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Louis Carpenter, of Lima, and Douglas (Sandy) Carpenter and Steven (Janice) Carpenter, both of Columbus Grove; two daughters, Lisa (Brent) Runkle, of Louisville, Ky., and Cheryl (Douglas) McBride, of Findlay; two brothers, Marion Waltz, of Waynesfield, and Calvin (Carolyn) Waltz, of Lafayette; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Carsen Carpenter; three brothers, Delmar, William and Ronald Waltz; and a sister, Irma Utrick. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Steve Holbrook will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
