Columbus Grove, Ohio Mary Ida Schroeder, 89, died at 9:00 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2018 at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born January 2, 1929, in Miller City, to William H. and Laura M. (Schroeder) Balbaugh. They both preceded her in death. On October 22, 1947, she married Louis J. Schroeder, who preceded her in death, July 20, 2010. Mary Ida is survived by four sons, Ronald (Debra) Schroeder of Lima, Donald (Gloria) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Robert (Doris) Schroeder of Leipsic and Mark A. (Mary Ann) Schroeder of Kalida; three daughters, Mary Ann Cox of Ottawa, Donna (Paul-George) Adkins of Columbus Grove and Louann Patton of Pandora; one daughter in-law, Barb Schroeder of Columbus Grove; 29 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; three brothers, Norman Balbaugh, Harold (Leoma) Balbaugh and Melvin (Carolyn) Balbaugh all of Miller City and two sisters in-law, Velma Balbaugh of Glandorf and Mary Balbaugh of Miller City. She was preceded in death by a son, Cletus Schroeder; two grandchildren, Michael Cox and Renea Patton; an infant sister, Dorothy; two brothers, Tom and Neil Balbaugh; a foster brother, Jim (Leona) Machunas and a sister in-law, Joann Balbaugh. Mary Ida attended Miller City School. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and crocheting - if you visited her close to supper time, you had to stay! She loved visiting Florida, going to the Maumee river, perch and walleye fishing on Lake Erie. Mary Ida was a " family loving mom", enjoying activities and visits with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 17, 2018 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Father David Ritchie will officiate with burial to follow in St. Anthony Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Rosary will be recited at the close of visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to donor's choice. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com.
