Vaughnsville
Marvin E. Griffith, age 90, passed away at the Meadows of Kalida on June 30, 2024. He was born in Vaughnsville, Ohio, on November 15, 1933, to Clarence and Vivian (Moorehead) Griffith who both preceded him in death. On September 9, 1956, he married Mary Jane Miller who passed away on October 21, 2022.
Marvin is survived by his son Greg (Denise) Griffith of Columbus Grove; his grandchildren Kaylan (Ross) Unverferth of Kalida, Kirsten (Russell) Lammers of Columbus Grove, Kody (Emily Westrick) Griffith of Columbus Grove, and Kurt Griffith of Columbus Grove; his great grand-children Liv and Blake Unverferth and Griffin Lammers; and his three step great grandchildren Landon, Kyla, and Ben Unverferth. Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly Griffith in 1997.
Marvin played basketball and baseball in high school and was a graduate of Vaughnsville High School, Class of 1951. He was a member of the Putnam County American Legion Baseball Team and the Vaughnsville town team. He was drafted into the Armed Forces in November 1956 and served in the Army at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX, until November 1958. He was a member of Vaughnsville Community Church and most recently attended St. John’s Community Church in Columbus Grove. Marvin was a member of the former Vaughnsville Knights of Pythias. He was a lifelong farmer who always had time for his family. He followed all of the grandkids activities.
Friends may call at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am with Pastor Jim Klausing presiding. Burial to follow in Vaughnsville Cemetery.
