Mabel Tabler Obituary
Columbus Grove Mabel L. Tabler, 88, died at 1:58 p.m. July 26, 2012, at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. She was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Beaverdam to William and Laura Hopkins Bridges, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 26, 1941, she married Russell Tabler, who died Sept. 15, 1989. They were married 47 years. Mrs. Tabler had been a cook at Columbus Grove schools for several years, where she was known for serving extra-large portions to the guys who quickly learned that it paid to compliment the cooks. She attended Columbus Grove Christian Church. She and her husband had lived most of their married years in rural Columbus Grove. She had lived for more than seven years at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. Survivors include two sons, Larry (Marge) Tabler, of Columbus Grove, and Jerry (Jo) Tabler, of Bluffton; a daughter-in-law, Vicky Tabler, of Elida; and 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Garry Tabler, who died in the fall of 2011; six brothers, Clarence, Charles, William, Wilmer, John and Glen Bridges; and three sisters, Kate Ladd, Isadore Engle and Ladonna Muter. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Dave Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam Acres Care Center or Putnam County Hospice. The family appreciates the love she received from the staff at Putnam Acres Care Center.
