COLUMBUS GROVE, OHIO Leroy "Bud" Fischer, 83, died at 10:22 a.m., on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Meadows of Kalida. He was born on July 24, 1933, near Cloverdale to Arnold and Helen (Turnwald) Fischer. They both preceded him in death. On June 19, 1954, he married Mary Martha (Halker) Fischer. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2017. Bud is survived by five sons: Terry L. (Monica) Fischer of Lima, Keith Fischer of Dayton, Ronald (Deborah) Fischer of Wapakoneta, Donald (Sherri) Fischer of Lima, and Dale (Mechele) Fischer of Columbus Grove; three daughters: Kathleen (Thomas) Siebeneck of Kalida, Sandra (Rick) Schaublin of Columbus Grove, and Judy (Fischer) Ward of Lima; 21 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother: Walter "Butch" (Margaret) Fischer of Kalida; three sisters-in-law: Esther Halker of Columbus Grove, Mary Halker of Huntsville, and Janet Halker of Florida; one brother-in-law Laverne (Marge) Hermiller of Bluffton, and Judy Bollinger, Pandora. He was preceded in death by a sister: Patricia (Richard) Halker; seven brothers-in-law: Eugene, Francis "Sonny", Edward (Mary Ann), Harold "Hattie" (Vivian), James (Ida "Daisy"), Raymond, and Rolland Halker and two sisters-in-law: Delores Hermiller and Rosie (Paul) Miller. Bud was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Bowers Slusser American Legion Post, VFW Post 9648 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2772 all of Columbus Grove; the Fraternal Order of Orioles #173 Lima Nest; and FOPA of Lima. He had worked for Omar Bread and Shawnee Distributors and retired in 1995. Bud enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, playing cards, antique John Deere tractors, and especially spending time with his family and grandkids. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Father Tom Extejt will officiate, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, February 28, 2017, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral, Columbus Grove where a scripture service will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Church or Putnam County Hospice.
