Archbold, Ohio
LaVerne J. Witteborg, 88, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold. She was the daughter of the late Monroe and Elvina (Amstutz) Burkholder. On November 9, 1945 she married Richard E. Witteborg, who died September 5, 1993.
Formerly of Lima and Defiance, LaVerne was a resident of Fairlawn Haven in Archbold, Ohio. During WWII she worked as an inspector of parts made for the B-29 Bombers in the defense plant, in Lima. She also worked at Woolworth’s, Madison’s and other dress shops in Lima. She was a lover of classical and religious music as well as the arts. LaVerne was a devoted homemaker and mother who lover her family. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Lima, and a long-time member of the DAV auxiliary and a graduate of Bluffton High School.
Survivors include her son, Richard (Shirley) Witteborg, Defiance; granddaughter, Caitlin (Nathan) Witteborg Bird of xxxx; sister, Dorothy Holt, Lima; and sister-in-law, Alice Burkholder, Columbus Grove. Her two brothers Ralph Burkholder and Herbert Burkholder preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A, M., Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio, with calling one hour before the service. Rev. Harry Tolhurst will officiate
