Katherine "Kate" Phyllis Benroth's Obituary
Katherine "Kate" Benroth Obituary
On September 9, 2006 our precious daughter Katherine “Kate” Phyllis Benroth was born, and our family was complete. On September 20, 2017, after a courageous seven-year battle with Batten Disease, Kate left our arms to run into the arms of Jesus. While Kate’s time on earth was short, the impact she had on everyone she met was immeasurable. She had a feisty personality and an infectious sense of humor that made every family gathering fun. We will always remember her smile, which could light up any room and get her out of trouble. We will remember her great love for animals, her tight bear hugs and her desire to be just like her big sister. Kate loved music, story time, puzzles and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She loved being surrounded by family and thrived in the middle of activity and chaos. Batten disease may have taken over Kate’s body, but it did not touch her soul. Even as her disease progressed we saw great strength and perseverance, along with an amazing ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. Kate taught us how to love, live, and laugh in the face of the most horrific of situations. She taught us to see the blessings in each day, to cherish each moment, to love fearlessly, and to find joy in every situation. Our lives will never be the same. Rest in Heaven, Sweet Girl! We will see you again someday. Kate is survived by her loving parents, Brock and Ellie Benroth of Columbus Grove Ohio; adoring sister, Lauren Benroth; maternal grandmother Jo Willer of Fort Wayne Indiana; paternal grandparents Sandy Benroth of Elida Ohio and Ronald (Patricia) Benroth of Cario Ohio. Kate is also survived by aunts and uncles: Heath (Teresa) Benroth of Lima Ohio, Britt (Jeff) Menchhofer of Rockford Ohio, and Kristi Willer of Fort Wayne Indian; and many cousins of which she loved. Kate’s love also extended to her wonderful caregivers, Cheryl Mansfield, Dianna McClure, Diane Gable, Holly Bertka and the loving ladies at PT Services. They provided care and love, which enhanced her quality of life. She was met in Heaven by her cousin Dylan Benroth, her uncle Brian Willer, and her grandpa Craig Willer. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Mike Boyes will officiate. Friends may call from 2:00- 4:00 & 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, September 25, 2017 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Batten Disease Support and Research Organization, 1175 Dublin Road, Columbus, Ohio 43215 Kate would not want us to be sad, but to celebrate her life.
