Columbus Grove, Ohio John R. Meyer, 60, died unexpectedly, surrounded by his family, October 16, 2018, at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. He was born on November 12, 1957 in Lima, Ohio to Raymond and Florence "Babe" (Rieman) Meyer. They both preceded him in death. John married Teresa Siefer on August 10, 1985, and she survives near Columbus Grove. He is also survived by four children, Todd, Kurt and Troy Meyer all of Columbus Grove and Kristen (Randy) Burgett of Hilliard; one sister, Karen (John) Lorenz of Columbus; his mother in-law, Dorothy Siefer of Ottawa; brother and sisters in-law, Tina (Denny) Burgei of Glandorf, Francis (Sherry) Siefer of Ottawa and Carol Siefer of Bluffton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Ann Meyer; his father in-law, Thomas Siefer and brother in-law, Kenny Siefer. John was a 1976 graduate of Columbus Grove High School, and graduate of Northwest Business College, with a degree in Auto Diesel. He was a active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus, Columbus Grove. He was a life long farmer, and sold Pioneer Seed for 35 years. To John, farming was more than a vocation, it was a way of life. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. John especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday October 19, 2018 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Father David Ritchie will officiate with burial at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a scripture service will be conducted at the close of visitation.
