Columbus, Ohio John P. Bogart, 92, died at 11:30 pm on November 27, 2017. He was born on February 23, 1925, in Lima, to Burnal W. and Mary A. (Norman) Bogart. They both preceded him in death. On January 23, 1952, he married Edna Hetrick, and she preceded him in death December 25, 2002. John is survived by his daughter, Ronda (Steve Smith) Bogart; his son, Richard (Mary) Bogart; and grandson, Douglas Barry all of Columbus. He is also survived by a sister Rita Dukes of Cadillac, MI and a cousin, Wayne Sakemiller of Lima. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Bogart and two sisters, Mary Sousley and Kathryn Miller. John was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, and a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Agriculture. He had served in WWII on the USS Hobby. He had worked for and retired from the Lima State Hospital and was a retired farmer. He loved to hunt, fish and play golf. John was a Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby every year. He was one of the very best basketball players around. John always put his family first. Services will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio. Pastor Jim Klausing will officiate with burial to follow in Altstaetter Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home.
