Jimmie Pitney Jr Obituary
Jimmie L. Pitney Jr., age 53, passed away Monday May 27, 2024 at his residence. He was born July 26, 1970 in Lima, Ohio to Jimmie L. Pitney Sr., who preceded him in death, and Lila J. (Hall) Pitney who survives in Columbus Grove.
Jimmie had a magnificent, booming voice, but his legacy will forever be playing the piano. Having started at a very young age he later went on to play for many churches, weddings and funerals. The true gift is that he never learned how to read music and played completely by ear. He was a huge animal lover, over the years taking in more birds, dogs and cats to count. He will be missed by his dog Cedar.
Jimmie had a very deep love for his mother and a close bond with his sisters whom he recently spent a relaxing weekend in Holmes County in which he fell in love with the countryside. He attended Columbus Grove Christian Church where he enjoyed playing special music.
He is survived by three children; Brady (Karen) Pitney (Boston, MA), Brice (Briley Kyser) Pitney (Mansfield,OH) and Abigail (Matt Evans) Pitney (Lima, OH), three grandchildren; Cole Pitney (Boston, MA), Amiah Evans and Cyra Evans (Lima, OH). He is also survived by his three sisters; Lisa (Jay) Follas, Lori (Bob) Brubaker and Melanie (Chris) Roethlisberger, five nephews, four nieces, and Sheri Pitney the mother of his three children with whom he remained friends with.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Howard and Marguerite Pitney and maternal grandparents Donald and Wilma Hall.
Visitation will be held at Hartman Sons Funeral Home in Columbus Grove on Wednesday May 29, 2024 from 2pm until 4pm and from 6pm until 8pm. Additional visitation will be held at Hartman Sons Funeral Home on Thursday May 30, 2024 from 10am until 11am. Funeral services will begin at 11am with Pastor Geoff Eubank presiding. Burial will follow immediately after at Ottawa River Cemetery in Rimer, Ohio.
