CairoJean A. Best, 86, died at 3:45 a.m. March 10, 2011, at VanCrest Healthcare Center, Delphos.She was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Lima to Carl and Dora Naylor Butterfield, who preceded her in death. On March 29, 1946, she married Harold A. Best, who died Dec. 18, 2008.Mrs. Best retired as a stenographer from the Lima State Hospital after more than 21 years. She was a longtime member of Cairo United Methodist Church. She was a lifelong musician, playing piano and organ and singing in church choirs and ensembles. She loved to write, recording her life experiences in journals and poetry.Survivors include two sons, Tim (Sharon Dorsey) Best, of Dublin, and Dan (Margie) Best, of Elida; a granddaughter, Jaime (Brandon) Chambers, of Mansfield; three great-grandchildren, Avery, Macy and Reed; and a sister, Lucille Gordon.She was preceded in death by a brother, William L. Butterfield.Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Rich Rakay will officiate. Burial will be in Cairo East Cemetery.Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to Cairo United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
