James T. Parys, age 79, passed away on July 3, 2023, in Coldwater, Michigan. Jim was born on February 14, 1944, in Bluffton, Ohio, to Louis and Martha Parys both of whom preceded him in death. On May 13, 1967, he married Charlene Davis who survives in Ottawa, Ohio.
Jim was a long time gas and service station owner in Putnam County with SOHIO service stations over the years in towns including Leipsic, Ottawa, and Columbus Grove. Jim truly enjoyed going to Coldwater Lake in Michigan with family and even after 50+ years was still happy to go there any time he had a chance.
Jim is survived by his son Shane (Marsha) Parys of Ottawa, his brother Louis (Deborah) Parys of Coldwater, and his sister Yvonne Coleman of Lima. He is also survived by his grandchildren Eric Parys (fiancée Brandi Maag), and Alexandra (Daniel) Kroeger, and great granddaughter Quincy Kroeger.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother Maurice Parys.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
