James Goedde Obituary
Lima, Ohio James C. "Jim" Goedde, 82, died at 3:18 am, Saturday, March 25, 2017, at his home. He was born on September 26, 1934, Ottawa, Ohio, to Walter L. and Laura B. Pettingburg, Sr. They both preceded him in death. On December 3, 1955, he married Marilyn L. Stauffer, she preceded him in death on April 7, 2001. Jim is survived by two sons: Chet Geodde of Washington Court House and Gary Goedde of Lima; four daughters: Cathy Jenner of Lima, Karen (Sam) Gerdeman of Leipsic, Diane McConnell of Lima and Mary (Andrew) Hittle of Glasgow, KY; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren with one on the way. He is preceded in death by six brothers: Thomas, Richard, Ray, Paul, John and Walter, Jr.; one sister: Mary Agnes Thomas; one daughter in-law: Jeni Goedde and one son in-law: James Jenner. Jim was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1952. He worked at Ford Motor company, Lima Engine Plant retiring after 40 years; Montgomery Ward and was self employed Auto Mechanic. He was a member of the UAW 1219, Lima. Jim was an Air Force veteran, he loved airplanes and going to the Air Force museum in Dayton along with the Air Shows. He especially enjoyed playing cards, watching western movies staring John Wayne, going camping and long drives with his family and friends. Service will begin at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Deacon Tom Niese will officate with burial to follow in Osborn Cemetery, Columbus Grove, with military rites conducted by the combined Color Guard of the Columbus Grove American Legion and VFW. Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.
