James Hayden Obituary
COLUMBUS GROVE — James H. Hayden, age 77, died April 6, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his children and family members. He was born, June 4, 1936, in Delphos, Ohio, to Lewis G. and Deloris (Allenbaugh) Hayden, both of whom are deceased. On January 9, 1955, he married Sylvia M. Bradford, who preceded him in death on December 5, 2008. James was a 1954 graduate of Columbus Grove High School. He was an avid fisherman, often fishing with his sons and best friend, James "Virgil" Bradford. He also loved gardening and canning or freezing the produce. He was a plasterer for forty-six years, and a fifty plus year member of the Plasterers and Cement Masons of Local 886, Toledo, Ohio. He retired from Halker Drywall and Plastering of Columbus Grove. James was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church of Columbus Grove, and a former member of The Ohio National Guard. Surviving are four children: Angela M. (Greg) Verhoff, Columbus Grove, James L. Hayden, Leipsic, Pamela G. (John) Harrington, Findlay and Bradley H. Hayden, Ottawa. Six grandchildren: Nikki (Jeff) Clement, Heather L. Verhoff, and Danielle (B. J.) Auchmuty, all of Columbus Grove, James J. Harrington, Seattle, Washington, Katie (Josh) Desmond, Shelby Township, Michigan, and Jackie (Jeremy) Hatch, Findlay, Ohio. There are fifteen great-grandchildren: Jacob, Christian, Lauryn and Peyton Auchmuty; Baily, Jade, Gabe, and Sage Clement; Marilyn Goss; Lucas, Zoey, Ellie and Molly Desmond; Hayden and Henry Hatch. Two sisters, Marilyn Lindeman and Doris Fetzer, preceded him in death. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014 at HARTMAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, Columbus Grove with Pastor Gary Ginter officiating. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 and one hour prior to funeral services on Thursday at the funeral home.
