Ivan Miller Obituary
Cairo Ivan D. Miller, 95, went home to be with the Lord at 12:15 a.m. June 11, 2012, at his residence. He was born Feb. 21, 1917, in Harrod to Brice C. and Gladis M. Truax Miller, who preceded him in death. On June 12, 1936, he married the love of his life, Iva M. Montague, who died May 20, 2004. Mr. Miller was a lifelong farmer, starting when he was 14 years old with his Uncle Paul and retiring when he was 87. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He was a member of Elida Immanuel Methodist Church, Elida. He served on the board of directors for the Cairo Elevator for several years and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include a son, James H. (Gloria) Miller, of Cairo; a daughter, Helen G. (Gary) Harris, of Cairo; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Miller, of Elida, and Lillian Miller, of Cairo; three grandchildren, Michael H. (Tina) Miller, of Cairo, Nancy (Heath) Augsburger, of Lafayette, and Jason (Amanda) Harris, of Cairo; and 10 great-grandchildren, Justin and Allison Miller, Hali Ladd, Christopher, Preston and Taliah Kleman, Madisen, Patience, Grace and Kaelyn Harris. He was preceded in death by a son, Ivan D. Miller Jr.; two brothers, Harold and Joe Miller; a sister, Grace Downing; and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Teegardin. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Kim Seiberling will officiate. Burial will be in Cairo East Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Elida Immanuel Methodist Church or the Cairo Fire & Rescue Department. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Nancy Augsburger, Marge Bryan, Lillian Miller, Justin Miller, Charlotte Augsburger, Tammy Dye,Galina Joseph, Ashley McClintock, Allison Miller, Matt Kohler and Karen Myers.
