Howard C Jones, age 86, resident of Parrish, Florida, passed away on December 21, 2016 at 12:30 AM, after a very brave fight with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Jones of nearly 63 years, his two sons, Howard C Jones, II, and William David Jones, and his three granddaughters, Brianna, Mallory and Natalie, all of whom brought him immense joy. Howard was born July 22, 1930 to Myron and Orie Jones. One of 3 children, he graduated from Pittsburgh Public Schools where his family was involved in running the steel mills that helped shape our nation. He graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1953 with a Civil Engineering Degree. His post-graduate education included the Alexander Hamilton Institute of Business, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Graduate School at the University of Michigan, the Sterling Institute, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and the Harvard Business School. He initially spent 7 years in Naval Aircraft Design for North American Aviation, then moved on to Surface-To-Surface Missile Design at Martin Marietta and eventually ended up at GE Space Division in Philadelphia where he and his associates made very important contributions to the Aerospace Industry that helped win the Cold War. In later life he worked in the Brokerage Industry with his son, David and founded his own Brokerage Firm before retiring. After a lifetime of hard work Howard and Eleanor (Ellie) were able to travel to all 7 continents and 7 seas and saw so much of the world’s special vistas and historic places. Howard was an avid biker, swimmer, world traveler and history buff; he taught a Wednesday Evening Bible Class at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bradenton, FL and contributed much to the congregation there where he is sorely missed already. Howard never took life for granted, he also believed in the infinite good of the American people and had a sincere appreciation of the opportunities afforded to everyone living in the United States. A memorial service honoring Howard’s Life is scheduled for Saturday, March 11, 2017 at eleven o’clock in the morning at Trinity United Methodist Church of West, Bradenton, FL. Following the service his final remains will be interred at the family plot in Columbus Grove, Ohio. Hartman Sons Funeral Home, 10879 Stat Route 12, Columbus Grove, Ohio will handle the interment. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of the memorial service. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers that those inclined make a donation in Howard’s name to Trinity United Methodist Church or the charity of their choice.
