Helen Diller Obituary
Vaughnsville, Ohio Helen L. Diller, 89, died at 9:52 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, Ohio. She was born on July 24, 1925, in Vaughnsville to Lawrence and Wilma (Dunlap) Stephens. They both preceded her in death. On August 27, 1949, she married Emerson L. Diller, who survives in Pandora, Ohio. Mrs. Diller was a graduate of Vaughnsville High School, Class of 1943. She was a member of the Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Bluffton where she taught Sunday school. She was also instrumental in the Vaughnsville Vacation Bible School and was a Cub Scout Den mother. Her home was always open to visiting missionaries for meals. She and her husband made mission trips to Haiti, Dominican Republic and Alaska. She loved seeing her grandchildren, attending their school activities, and she taught them all to bake and cook. She enjoyed “Tuesday Game Night” with her brothers and cousins. Helen is survived by three sons: Stephen (Teresa) Diller, Vaughnsville, Donald (Jill) Diller, Leipsic and Timothy J. (Diana) Diller, Vaughnsville; three brothers: Marvin (Faye) Stephens, and Alton (Carol) Stephens both of Gomer, and Gerald (Connie) Stephens, Delphos; one sister: Ann (Ken) Lurz, Xenia; one sister-in-law: Norma (Ben) Graber, Waterloo, Indiana; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Wendell Stephens and a grandson Eric Diller. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2014 at the Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Bluffton with Reverend Roger Ford officiating. There will be a private family burial with Pastor Justin Shoup officiating. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2014 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bible Radio Network, P.O. Box 7100, Pasadena, CA 91109, the Ebenezer Mennonite Mission Fund, or the Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.
