Vaughnsville, Ohio Helen Elaine Metzger, age 94, passed into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, December 4, 2015, at Vancrest of Delphos. She was born on August 10, 1921, in Putnam County to Russell and Viola Persis (Ford) Barnes. They both preceded her in death. On December 31, 1943, she married Howard L. Metzger, who died November 13, 2010. They had been married 67 years in a marriage full of love, kindness, fun, and "just being together". Helen leaves behind a lifetime of loving memories for her two daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, two sisters, son in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Helen is survived by daughters: Kathy Smith of Delphos, and Sue (Bob) Huth of Findlay; four grandchildren who adored her: Marc (Melisa) Smith of Delphos, Jeff (Dawn Moore) Smith of Las Vegas, Brandon (Cheryl) Huth of Springfield and Amy (Justin) Hill of Lake Elsinore, CA; eight great grandchildren: Trey and Trysten Smith, Colin and Addison Smith, and Jacob, Mitchell, Trevor and Caroline Huth; and two sisters: Marge Hilgenberg and Ann Young both of Orlando , FL. She was preceded in death by a little brother William, who passed at 18 months of age; a sister: Mary (Richard) Myers; loving son-in-law: Clyde "Ed" Smith died in August of 2014; brothers-in-law: Darrel (Glenna) Metzger, Duane Young and Bob Hilgenberg. Helen had an enduring faith and loved her Vaughnsville Community and the Vaughnsville Community Church where she belonged to the numerous women's' groups. She was a person who had many lifelong friendships and touched so many people throughout her 94 year. Her warm personality drew people to her and she never faltered in her deep faith for our God. Friends may call from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio. Services will follow the visitation, conducted by Mr. Kenneth Wright.
