COLUMBUS GROVE Harry L. Schumacher, 82, died at 4:25 a.m. Sept. 27, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born Oct. 26, 1929, in Columbus Grove to Harry L. and Clara Kahle Schumacher Sr., who preceded him in death. On Feb. 19, 1952, he married Margaret A. Shirey, who survives. Mr. Schumacher was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was an avid golfer and loved playing cards with family and friends. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9648, American Legion Post 516 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2772 , all in Columbus Grove. He retired from Scot Lad Foods, Lima. Survivors also include two sons, David (Lori) Schumacher, of Bowling Green, and Ron (Eileen) Schumacher, of Lima; two daughters, Janice (Bob) Davis, of Indian River, Mich., and Teresa (Dan) Hawley, of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers, Clete (Kay) Schumacher and Karl (Betty) Schumacher, both of Columbus Grove; a sister, Pauline Osterhage, of Columbus Grove; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Mae Schumacher. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Father Tom Extejt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a K. of C. rosary service will be held.
