Gregory "Gregg" A McCrate's Obituary
Gregory A. McCrate, 75, of Columbus Grove, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center after a short illness. Born in Lima, he was the son of the late John W. and Rose Mary (Hermiller) McCrate.
He worked at Western Union as a Director Technical Support & National Account Manager. He also retired from AT & T as a former engineer and project manager. He was a member of St. Anthony Padua Church. He proudly served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a member VFW Post 9648 Columbus Grove and Columbus Grove American Legion Post 516. He also was a member of the Columbus Grove Eagles and was a Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed snow skiing and was a past president of the Dayton Ski Club. He loved cheering on his alma mater, Ohio State Buckeyes and playing cards, especially euchre. He was also a Model T enthusiast.
He is survived by siblings, Marlene (Michael) Otto of Canton, Michigan, Patrick (Debbie Getter) McCrate of West Palm Beach, Florida and Terry (Betsy) McCrate of Poland, Ohio. He is also preceded in death by sister, Mary Alice McCrate.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Friday, April 25, 2025, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, OH with FR. David Ritchie officiating. Visitation is on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm at Hartman-Rousculp Community Funeral Home, 10879 SR OH-12 Columbus Grove.
