Columbus Grove, Ohio Gladys M. Verhoff, 81, died at 6:10 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014, at Bridge Hospice, Blanchard Valley Health System, Findlay, Ohio. She was born on February 11, 1933, in Columbus Grove, to Jake and Ethel (Stephens) Myers, both of whom preceded her in death. Her mother, Ethel, died when Gladys was two years old. Her father remarried Emma Walti, and she preceded her in death also. Emma became the mother to Gladys and her sisters, and who raised them. On December 27, 1952, she married Joe Verhoff, who preceded her in death on July 12, 2009. Mrs. Verhoff was a graduate from Columbus Grove High School. She had worked at Konalrad Products, Columbus Grove, and retired in 1992 from Continental Can, Lima. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. After retirement, Gladys and Joe enjoyed 14 years in Sarasota, Florida. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed The Ohio State Buckeyes and was an avid sports fan. She is survived by two sons: Dave (Vickie) Verhoff, Bradenton, Florida, and Joe (Pam) Verhoff, Defiance; three daughters: Angie (Ed) Howell, Pandora, Rose (Brian) Hovest, Tallmadge, and Deb (Mike) Reed, Columbus Grove; one brother: Doyle (Donna) Myers, Attica; three sisters: Bonnie (Alvin) Schumacher, Columbus Grove, Ilo Hoskins, Vaughnsville, and Sharon (Butch) Moore, Columbus Grove; twelve grandchildren: Laura, Jamie, David, Wade, Brittany, Mackenzie, Scott, Kyle, Kara, Amy, Brett and Trent; and four great grandchildren with one due in April. Gladys was preceded in death by a sister Eloise (Ted) Verhoff and brother in-law George Hoskins. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
