Frederick Earl Hawkins' Obituary
Frederick E. Hawkins, of Elida, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Lima Memorial Hospital. Born in Marion, Indiana he was the son of the late William and Alice (Finch) Hawkins. He married Shirley (Spence) Hawkins on October 19, 1974. He retired after 36 years with Ford Motor Company, Lima, Ohio. He is a 1969 graduate of Bath High School. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army. He was a member of Cairo United Methodist Church, Cairo Gun Club, Country Diamond Dancers, VFW Post 9648 Columbus Grove, Fraternal Order of Eagles #691 Wapakoneta, and UAW Ford Local 1219. He enjoyed fishing, mechanical work in his own barn and Brothers of the River. He especially loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Travis Hawkins; brothers, Larry Hawkins, Rex (Donna) Hawkins, Doug (Anita) Hawkins, Kevin (Penny) Hawkins; sister, RuAnna (Ron) Lackey; grandson, Elijah Hawkins; siblings-in-law, Al Best, Toni Schrader, Mike (Mary) Spence, Eva (Gary) Adams, Val Givens and Mike Sumney; 53 nieces and nephews; 112 great nephews and nieces; and 39 great-great nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Vicky (Gary) Gallagher, Brenda (Frank) Nester and Sue Best; and siblings-in-law, Carol Sumney, Bob Schrader and David Givens.
Funeral Service is 11 am Friday, March 14, 2025, at Hartman-Rousculp Community Funeral Home, 10879 SR OH-12 Columbus Grove with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Holmes officiating. Burial to follow at Cairo East Cemetery with military honors.
