Vaughnsville Frances L. Lewis, 90, died at 8:49 a.m. Aug. 6, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born Oct. 15, 1920, in Vaughnsville to David and Etta Parsons Lewis, who preceded her in death. Frances was a graduate of Vaughnsville High School's Class of 1938. She had worked 25 years as a cook for the Columbus Grove-Vaughnsville schools, retiring in 1991. A member of Vaughnsville Community Church, she also was a member of the Evening Guild of the church, for which she had served many years as its treasurer. Other memberships included the Sugar Creek Senior Citizens and the Gomer Welsh Society. Frances loved to crochet and had made more than 650 hats for the American Cancer Society as well as for many of her nieces and nephews, friends and family. Survivors include a sister, Catherine Thomas, of Vaughnsville; a sister-in-law, Maxine C. Haman, of Lima; a nephew, Dennis (Diane) Lewis, of Columbus Grove; a niece, Sharon (Tom) Kelly, of Minnesota; and five great-nieces and -nephews and nine great-great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Lewis. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Tom Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Gomer Pike Run Cemetery, near Gomer. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Vaughnsville Community Church orthe charity of the donor's choice.
