Columbus Grove Floyd "Junior" Shinabery Jr., 79, died at 10:15 p.m. Feb. 22, 2012, at St. Rita's Medical Center, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born Aug. 31, 1932, in Columbus Grove to Floyd E. and Stella Kidd Shinabery, who preceded him in death. On June 11, 1955, he married Teresa Alt, who survives. Mr. Shinabery was a 1951 graduate of Columbus Grove High School. He was an accomplished carpenter and loved farming. He had a great sense of humor. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 619th Ordnance Ammunition Company, from 1953 to 1955. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9648, where she served as commander, and American Legion Post 516, both in Columbus Grove. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. He had a great love for his grandchildren and was always ready with a story. He was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his family. Survivors also include two daughters, Sue (Tim Ward) Wynn, of Columbus Grove, and Jill (Jim) Amos, of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Jeanette Kohli, of Arvada, Colo., and Margaret Dray, of Bluffton; six brothers-in-law, Wilfred Niese, of Columbus Grove, James (Ursula) Alt, of Bluffton, Harold (Phyllis) Alt, of Shelby, William Alt, of Columbus Grove, Frank (Vera) Alt, of Tempe, Ariz., and Arthur "Junior" (Ruth) Alt Jr., of Pandora; and five grandchildren, James (Jessica) Amos, Lisa Wynn, Julia Wynn, Kristin Wynn and Adam Wynn. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty (Bill) Seyer; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Alt; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Niese and Pat Alt. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Father Tom Extejt will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the charity of the donor's choice
