Evelyn Ann Wyant's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Evelyn Ann Wyant, who peacefully went home to the Lord on December 26th, at the age of 88.
Evelyn was born on October 8, 1936, in New Bavaria, Ohio. She grew up with a strong faith, a kind spirit, and a deep love for family. A devoted wife, she stood steadfastly by her husband, Junior George Wyant, as they worked together to build a loving home and tend to their family farm. Her days were often spent tending to the garden she cherished and helping care for the chickens they raised with pride, always ending the day by sipping hot tea. An avid gardener, Evelyn was a long-standing member of the local garden club, where she shared her passion for flowers and plants. Her green thumb was evident in the vibrant blooms that graced her yard and the bountiful vegetables she grew to nourish her loved ones.
Her faith was central to her life, and she devoted herself to serving her church community. As a devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish and Rosary Altar Society and she participated faithfully in the annual festival, helping in the kitchen, spreading joy to those around her. In her later years, Evelyn found joy wintering in Texas, where she formed cherished friendships over games of dominoes and cards. Her laughter and warmth made her a welcome presence in every gathering. Above all, family was the center of Evelyn's world. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, who will forever remember her Christmas Jell-o, gentle hugs, and loving presence. She is survived by her husband, Junior George Wyant, son Michael (Carla) Wyant, daughter Susan Utrup, grandchildren Joshua (Kara) Wyant, Tiffany (Brandon) Clem, Jessica Utrup, Jeremy (Kelly) Wyant, Jim Utrup, Jennifer Utrup, and Julie (Tyler) Snyder, sisters-in-law Jean Romes and Rosemary Romes. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred E. Schon, father Frederick M. Romes, brothers Norbert Romes and Paul Romes, sons Gregory Wyant and Jeffery Wyant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Anthony of Padua School or Right To Life in her memory. We will miss Evelyn deeply, but we take comfort in knowing she is whole and at peace in God's presence. Her legacy of faith and kindness will continue in her family. Romans 10:9-11 states, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame. ”Graveside services at St.Anthony Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a eulogy service at 6:30 p.m., at Hartman-Rousculp Community Funeral Home, 10879 OH-12, Columbus Grove.
