Elsie Wood Obituary
Lima, Ohio Elsie Louise (Amstutz) Wood, age 96 years, died at 7:15 p.m., on Saturday, May 28, 2016. at Springview Manor, Lima, Ohio. She was born October 24, 1919, in Columbus Grove, Ohio to Menno and Bessie Anne (Yant) Amstutz. They both preceded her in death. On March 16, 1940, she married Earl Edward Wood, who preceded her in death on June 14, 1962. Elsie was a graduate of Vaughnsville High School, class of 1937. She retired after working sixteen and a half years at Montgomery Ward. Elsie was a member of Columbus Grove Legion Auxillary #0516 for 34 years, AARP, and Golden Buckeye. She enjoyed cross stitch embroidery, cross word puzzles, and was an ardent reader. She is survived by two sons: Larry Dean (Jane Sawmiller) Wood and Gary Lee (Caroline Humphreys) Wood, both of Lima, Ohio; two daughters: Shirley Ann (Joseph) Potprocky of Charles Town, Indiana, and Mary Lou Kersker of Harrod, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren: Dawn Rose Wood-Harrington, Darla Lynn (Bryan) Hatfield, Dee Ann (Mark) Pritzner, Dale Edward (Wynonia) Wood, Jodi Lynn (Dan) Johnson, Cari Leigh (Jamie) Fuerst, Sandra Louise (Darrell) Smith, Joseph George (Ahkela) Potprocky Jr., Todd Michael Kersker, Tamara Michele (Gene) Sedlocek, Taffy Marie (Scott) Colley, Troy Matthew (Elizabeth) Kersker, and Micah French; thirty-five great grandchildren; eighteen great-great grandchildren; and long time friend Edna Briem. Elsie is preceded in death by one brother: Clarence Daniel (Helen) Amstutz; one daughter in-law Donna Kaye Wood; one son in-law Donald Kersker; three granddaughters: Susan Marie Potprocky, Lisa Wood, and Lori Lee Wood; and one great-great grandson: Hudson Lee Haag. Services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home. Pastor Geoff Eubank will officiate, with burial to follow in the Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove, Ohio. Friends may call on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio.
